Yes, this is the exact image of my extension bar for my personal chrome browser at home. The extensions I have are very dear to my heart and truthfully I couldn't live without them.
The one to the farthest left is the very tool I used to take this picture. It's the Google Screen Capture, and it works very well. I've tried many a screen captures and this one definitely does the job. It has many choices for what type of region you want to capture, including a "capture screen region" option where you can drag and re-size the area you're trying to capture. Once you've captured it, you can edit it in the new tab that pops up, and what I like best is that you can then directly share the image to Picasa, Facebook, Imgur, and Sina Microblog. Life changing.
Next, is the Pandora extension. When you first click it, it sends you straight to pandora.com, but once you've logged in it allows you to control pandora without switching tabs. When you click the extension it allows you to go to the next song, thumbs up, thumbs down, and also shows you the cover art of the album with the title and artist of the song. It may seem lazy, but I absolutely love it.
Following the extension bar, next you might see something that looks close to the pixar lamp logo. This extension is called clearly. This extension is used for when you're looking at blogs or articles. When you click it, it takes away all of the side adverts and distractions so you can focus on what you're reading.
The next is definitely something dear to my heart: the Tumblr extension. After you initially sign into Tumblr for the first time you can click and the drop down box lets you stare at many a pictures, articles, or whatever your heart pleases, without even changing the tab. I use this when I'm supposed to be doing homework and I don't want to. It's really good at fooling the parents.
The next one is more for school work. It's called the Google Dictionary. This can be useful when you're assigned to look at a page that a teacher has given you for school work. All you have to do is highlight the word you don't know and click the button. It brings a little box down and gives you a definition, or if you've been wondering about a word you can click the button and type it in.
The next extension is less known to the world, and well quite honestly, I don't use it that often. The extension is called Diigo. Once you log into it you can peruse the web and when you find something interesting you can bookmark it there and it sends it to your own little cache of bookmarked websites. The best feature though, is that you can share groups of bookmarks with groups of friends. I've used it with robotics club a few times and it seems to be working ok.
There are so many extensions out there and you really should become diverse in them and see what works for you.
Love these...especially Google Screen Capture - a most important ETGS extension. Lorith: Diigo is even more of a lifechanger for me - Fel shall have to indoctrinate you to its power. Finally, a suggestion: a blogpost (linked to this one) about how to get extensions. That is all.
ReplyDeleteI am determined to get myself into Diigo
