I personally believe that every high school student should be able to rent their own chrome book during the school year. You would have the choice to rent one or not, if you already have a laptop but it would give the students a chance to have the Internet in the palm of their hands without making the teachers mad(usage of phones in class).
Having the Chrome Books for every student would be an advancement in how we could do class work and projects, the world is turning to technology soon anyways so why not start now? This would expand the ideas teachers have on how to teach things in class instead of long lectures that students barely listen to anyways. Why not have the students be apart of the class by doing lessons on Google Docs, Forms, Sites, etc.? There are some pros about having the Chrome books in the hands of students but there are also some cons, but who likes those anyways?
One of the ideas of all of the students having the Chrome books would be that in the morning the students would go to their resource teacher and receive the Chrome book and then at the end of the day they would take them back that way there would be no possibly way that any of the Chrome books could go missing. Another idea would be that at the beginning of the school year the students who all wanted one would be renting one for the whole year and they would be taking them home and doing their work like that. The problem that may become an issue is if the students didn't have WiFi or Internet at home. If they didn't have WiFi that wouldn't be a problem unless they didn't have Internet. The good thing about the Chrome books is that it isn't based on a network it is all saved on Google and that way you can't lose anything and you don't have to worry about not having a flash drive or "your printer stopped working", all of those annoying excuses have been heard more than once and the teachers are sick of it. They need to be stopped and this could be a great way to do so.
I am a HUGE advocate of this idea, Brittany. It's uber exciting to think of how education would change if students had 24/7 access to a device. I think it's just a matter of time - question being, how much time?
