Welcome

It is the goal of the East Troy Geek Squad to bring forth the capabilities of technology and present them in a manageable, clear, and understandable way. We do understand that sometimes it may seem like the confusion, hassle, quirks, and even risks of using technology outweigh the benefits, but we're here to change that.

App: Blogger

Thanks to Blogger, I am able to convey to you this knowledge, get my point across, share an idea.  That's not just Blogger: that's a blog.  Most of you know what a blog is, so I'm gonna keep it short and sweet: a blog's a fancy notebook/scrapbook on the web, and it's public.  Students are writing for a different audience: the public.  Or, if you're like me, for themselves.

So that's a blog, but this is Blogger, with a capital B.  Blogging used to be painful, like, if you didn't know how to build a website from scratch, blogging was no easier.  But with Blogger, the same Google account you use for everything can be used for creating a blog.

Signing in for the first time, you'll be prompted to create your first blog.  Couldn't be easier.  Give it a title, URL, and a description (optional) and you're good to go.  And with Blogger, you can always change every one of those things.  You can even create more blogs under the same account, being able to view, edit, and post to each one of them from one view.

Of course, what's a blog without readers?  (The answer is a diary but disguised as something more masculine)  Part of Blogger's easy-to-use interface is set aside to keeping up on all of your blogs that you follow.  As a blogger, you or your students can take full control of who you want to be able to see your blog.  (Just like Google Drive) For more professional blogs, you can invite other people to be authors, so anybody on the team can post.

In any particular order, here are some other features of Blogger:
-No coding experience required
-Add images, videos, links, etc. to blog posts
-Used and tested by yours truly, and the current AFES/ASES (Accelerated Freshman and Sophomore English Scholars)
-No special account required, just use Google
-Available on Google Play and The App Store
-Available on the Chrome Web Store

  1. Fel agrees. What's not to love about Blogger? Writing for an authentic audience made easy as pie. Another fav. feature: themes- for the aesthetically inclined, you can change the background/theme as often as you like and there's MUCH to choose from.
